Williams), 330 Crusado 9.7 (Fergus). Crusado and Dingo, with Kaitoa, made the running to the hill, where Dingo had increased his lead to four lengths from Kaitoa, who was a couple of lengths in front of Kanaka and Mangere, with Dummy next. This order was maintained over the post and rails, and Dingo and Kaitoa went down the hill together, the former showing the way over the stono-and-sod fence to the water jump, where he made a faulty jump, allowing Magpie to shoot into the lead. The last-named carried on the running up to the stone wall, in negotiating which Muscatel came to grief. Dingo, however, was again in the lead as they raced out of the course proper, with Magpie half a length away, and then came Crusado, Kanaka, and Dummy in that order. There .was very little alteration in the position as they ran up through the plantation to the post and rails for the second time, Nor'-west whipping in. The field all negotiated the double on the top of tho hill safely, and as they came bowling down Magpie had four lengths the best of Dingo; but when the stone wall was reached the latter was again on terms with his opponents, with Kanaka a couple of lengths away. Crusado, unseating j his rider, allowed Dummy to run into Jouita place. Running up to the soa fenco JL)ingo, Kanaka, and Magpie were all in line, Kanaka being the first to jtimp the double in front of tho stand. He carried the field across the stone wall, down through the rails, and over tho old

water jtittip. When they landed on ( the course proper Dingo was once more within threequarters of a* length of the leader, but when they came to climb the hill again Kanaka had moved clear, and was three lengths in front of Dingo as they ran through the trees, Dummy, threo lengths away, in third place. The latter passed Dingo half way up the hill, and when, the post and rails were reached for the last time tho top weight was within three lengths of Kanaka, Nor'-weot, about five lengths awky, in third position. In this order they leaped the stone wall, and as they drew xip to the last hurdle Nor'-west put in a determined bid, and was within two lengths of Dummy as they landed on the flat ; but in the run home, though. Nor'-west and Kanaka disputed every inch of ground to the finishing point, Dummy continued to hold his own, winning by a length ; while Nor'-west and Kanaka passed the post locked together, and a dead heat wa-s declared for second place. Dingo and Mangere, the only others to finish, were a long way behind in fourth and fifth places respectively. Time, Bmin 34sec. On the totalisator, £2453; dividend, £4 9s.
