The weekly meeting of the Land Board on Wednesday was attended by the Chief Commissioner (Mr J. P. Uaitland), and Messrs Clark, Dallas, Duncan, and Kirkpatrick
James Williamson wrote making an offei for sections 8, 10, 30, 31, block IV. Tautuku.—Referred to Ranger Hughan
License to occupy sections 62 to 6G and 70, block 11, Shotover, and over mining reserve north of sections 31, 32, 33, of the same block, was issued to Alexander Grant at st rental of £1 ss, -with, the usual license fee.
Surrender of lea.se in perpetuity over sections 9 and 14, block VII, Mount Hyde, held by Alexander Came, was accepted. Sections to be grouped at a capital value of 10s, v/ith valuation for improvements of £516 14s 6d. Surrender of perpetual lease over section 16 y XII, Mount JTyde, held by John Dodds, v/as accepted, subject to current hall" year's rent being paid. Sections to be recommended for notification at capital value of 12s 6cl per Acre -with valuation £6 17s 6d. It -was lesolved to offer sections 1 to 92, block IX, and section 16, block XXIII town of Alexandra, .it auction at £5 per quarter acre. Also to recommend icr notification, at capital value of 73 per ucic, 3P".'ions 1 and 2, block I, Upper Waksitipu. Surrender of small grazing run 244f, Tiger Hill, by W, K. M'lntosh was accepted subject to approval of the Minister for Lands, the board being of opinion that the land cannot be profitably occupied at the present rental.
The riglit to the following licenses were declared lapsed, rent and fees not having been paid: — C. J. Forsyth, section 12, block. 11, Upper Wakatipu; Mark Roberts, sections 9, 14, 22, block IX, Maniototo.
A letter from Mrs C. Barragh in regard to sections 15 and 16, Teaneraki settlement, was referred to Banger Atkinson for report. The following applications were approved; — For rural land for cash — Section 22, block VI, Waitahuna, Samuel Henry. For exchange of perpetual leas© for lease in perpetuity over section 1, block- VIII, Mount Hyde, James Carnie
The followinl; applications to surrender were referred to the ranger for. report: — E. Wilson, section 14, block IX, Woodland; M. Barratt, section 5. block Vl' Woodland.
James John applied to bo allowed to withdraw his former application for transfer allotment 29, Maerewhenua estate. — Agreed to. Consideration of application by D. G. Gunn for occupation lease -over seven acres upon small grazing run 2*23g, Tiger Hill; also to haye 48 acres upon run QS3c, same district, set aside as a camping reserve, was deferred till next meeting. The proposed expenditure by Clutha County Council of " thirds " and " fourths " for period October 31, 1898, to January 28, 1899, waa approved.
