The first fence proved fatal to Black Lion, and as the stand was left behind the same order was maintained. At the fence after passing tho water Pungent fell, and a mile from home Lord Audley was followed by Mount Dalton, The Seer, and Sweet Charlotte. Six furlongs from home Lord Audley camo down, Mount Daiton falling over him, whilst The Seei was also brought down. This con- t trctomps left Sweet Charlotte with a clea-r , lead, which she retained to the end, and won in a canter by 10 lengths from. Irish Thistle; her nearest opponent at the last fence, who then cam*, to grief, being Carriden. Thus Irish Thistle was left to fill tho second berth, and tho New Zealander, Levanter, finished a bad third. Nothing else completed the course.
