Lord Audley showed tho way to Irish Thistle, The Seer, Mount Dalton, and Levanter, with Pungent last. The first fence proved fatal to Black Lion, and as the stand was left behind the same order was maintained. At the fence after passing tho water Pungent fell, and a mile from home Lord Audley was followed by Mount Dalton, The Seer, and Sweet Charlotte. Six furlongs from home Lord Audley camo down, Mount Daiton falling over him, whilst The Seei was also brought down. This con- t trctomps left Sweet Charlotte with a clea-r , lead, which she retained to the end, and won in a canter by 10 lengths from. Irish Thistle; her nearest opponent at the last fence, who then cam*, to grief, being Carriden. Thus Irish Thistle was left to fill tho second berth, and tho New Zealander, Levanter, finished a bad third. Nothing else completed the course. Francis's b g Neldespairalden, 6yrs, 10.3 (C. Pullen) 2 Mr Gregory's Trilby, aged, 11.7 (Piggott).. 3 Grigou, aged, 12.0 (Mr E. Chinnery) .. -• P Sweet Bird, aged, 10.11 (Charlton) .. 0 The Earl, agfd, 10.5 (H Hopkins) .. ..0 Betting: 11 to 8 agst Norton. Sweet Bird was first away, but Norton settled do-nm, followed by Sweet Bird a-nd The Earl, with Trilby last. After half the journey had been completed, Sweet Bird and Grigou came down, and Norton, drawing away with a clear lead, remained in undisputed command, to wiu by five lengths; bad third. Tho Earl fell at the last Jpnee. Charllou, who rodo Sweet Bird, broke his leg. j
