The German Government have guaranteed the construction of a railway from the coast through German East Africa to Lake Tanganyika, thus facilitating the agreement recently arranged between a syndicate of Anglo-German bankers and Mr Cecil Rhodes for the construction of a Trans-African railway. April 9. The Kaiser will ask the Reichstag to guarantee the section of the Cairo to Cape railway traversing German East Africa, also a line from Dalssalaam, a seaport in Germarf East Africa, to Ujiji, on the eastern shores of Lake Tanganyika.
