SALE OP WAICULA ESTATE IN FARMS.
Messrs Wright, Stephenson, and Co. report having held a sale of tho Waicola estate, the property of the New Zealand Mortgage and Investment Association, on Saturday. The area of 6977 acres was offered in 18 lota, ranging in size from 100 to 724 acres. For all of the lota but two there was keen competition ; in some cases the bidding was very animated, and prices far above the upset were obtained. The purchasers were all local settlers, tho few outsiders present being quickly out of tho bidding. The passed-in lots are for sale privately at the upset prices. Following is the result of the sale: —
Lot 1, sections 5 and 36, Aparima (602 acres) ; tussock, part swamp ; upset 30s — Mr Alfred Coster, Invercargill, 33?.
Lot 2, sections 24 and 35 (413 acres) ; tussock, part swamp ; upset 27s 6d — Mr John Keen, Aparima, 43b.
Lot 3, section 30 (204 acres) : tussock, part swamp ; upset 28s — Messrs Eaton and Smith, Aparima, 355.
Lot 4, section 33 (170 aores) ; tussock, part swamp ; upset 25s — Mr John Hardwick, Otautau, 325.
Lot 5, section 31 (207 acres) ; old English grass, part swamp ; upset 32s 6d — Mr D. M'lvor, Scott's Gap, 47c
Lot 6, section 32 (238 acres) ; upset 27s 6d — Mr W. Clothier, 27b 6d.
Lot 7, section 6 (217 acres) : old English grass, part swamp ; upset 40& — Mr Wm. Kellow, Otautau, 445.

Lofc 13, section 1 (410' acre 3 2 roods) ; English grass, jsmall part swamp ; woolshcda. yards, sheep-dip, etc., on this lot ; upset 40e — Mr W. ' J. Moffefct, Invercargill, 40s. I Lot 14, p.r. 6a and 4a, Wairio (631 acres) ; grass and tussock, part swamp — Mr John C. FOHO. Scott's CJap, at urifet, 12s 6d. Lot 16, section 8, Wairio (361 acres) ; English grass, station homestead, stable, barn, etc., on this block ; upsot 75s — Mr James Beck, Wairio, 80s. ' For lota 17 (100 acres) and 18 (342 acres), unimproved, there was no offer at the upsets i of 10s ar>d 5s per acre respectively.
