THE FAD PAYS : TRY IT.

For the ten years 1881-90 a young man of 25, of the general community, had an "expectation" of life of 36.28 yeais, while for the same period the Rccnabites and Sons of Temperance at 25, almost all of whom are working men, had an " expectation" of 44.30 years. So here we reach the astounding fact that abstinence from alcohol has done twice as much in lengthening the lives of teetotalers already over 25 years of age, as all the other ameliorative ; agencies and influences brought into opera- \ tion during the past 60 years have accomplished for the community as a whole in lengthening the average span of life from birth to death.
