Messrs Thomas Paterson and Co. report April 12: — Fruit.—Market only fairly supplied this week. Choice fiuit is -wanted. Plums, 2d to 2Jd per lb for good to prime. Tomatoes: Firmer, lid ti 2£d; hothouse, 4d. Apples:' Cooking, ljd to 2d; inferior, 2s to 3s per case; dessert, 2d to 2Jd. Pears: Best sorts, 2d to 3d; cookers, ljd to 2d; inferior, almost unsaleable. Quincea, IJd to l£d. Pic melons, £3 10s to £4 10s per ton. Grapes, Cd to 9d. Oranges: Market bare; Tahiti, 12s. Bananas, 2Jd. Peaches, 2d to 3*d. Apiicots done. Lemons: Italian, 20s. Produce.—Fresh butter (in good demand), 7d to 8d; prime salt (wanted), 7£d to SJd; factory, dhd. Eggs barely supplied. Bacon: Roll, 7id. Hams, Bd. Pigs, 4M. Cheese: Factory*, 4*d; farmers', 3id to 4d. Onions, £4. Potatoes. Kidneys, 27s 6d to 35s per ton; Derwents have inquiry at 45s to 50s. Poultry has fair demand.
