We are informed that the share list of the Upper Waimumu Dredging Company has been closed, and that the shares are. considerably over-applied for. The allotment of shares takes place to-day. An Auckland telegram renorts that the New. Zealand Crown mines crushed 2330 tons for a return valued at £5652. Tht Moanataiari Company crushed 75 tons for £363 ; tbe Moanataiari tributere 129 tons for £654; Cardigan , ' Company, 25J-tons for £137; Cardigan tributers, 42 tons for £123 ; May Queen tributers, 66 tone for £200.
In the mining case Howell v. Boss, which was argued in Banco at the end of last month, his Honor on Tuesday gave judiymefll;, granting a writ of certiorari. A new Roman Catholic Church ie to be opened at "Waihola on Sunday next, and in connection therewith special trains are to be" run from Dimedin and Balclutha for Waihola. It is understood that Mosgiel House and grounds have been purchased by Bishop Verdon for the Roman Catholic Seminary for the training of priests which is about to bo started. The annual meeting of houpeholderß for the election of school committees will beheld on Monday, the 24th inst., in the Bchoolhouse of each district, except in the districts of Caversham and Lawrence, where the meetings will be in the respective town halla.
