CANTERBURY AGRICULTURE.

(Fbom Otjb Own Cobbespondjbnt.) OHRISTOHURCH. April 11. There has been more than an average autumn i-ainfall, and farmers are nnxious«for fine weather to enable them to get on with threshing and potato-lifting. Much damage has already been done to potatoes, and very fe*v holders are willing to accept the pound a ton, which has recently been the best offer for Derwents off forks, an advance in price being generally anticipated. The growth of fodder is wonderful for auttunn, and has caused a renewed strong demand for store and breeding sheep at prices equal to the highest of the season. There is no sign of improvement in the wheat market.
