LAND BO ARD.
The usual meeting of the Land Board was held yesterday, and was attended by Messrs J. P. Maitland (chief commissioner), Clark, Dallas," Duucau, and Kirkpatrick.
The Receiver of Land Revenue reported that the . following, whose ■ holdings were -declared forfeited, had now paid : — Lease in perpetuity 7818, William Forrester, Tokarahi estate; lease, in .perpetuity 7665, J. F. Mitchell, Tokarahi estate. — Forfeitures rescinded. • . A ' request . was received from Neil Brown that the boaid should reconsider his application, for sections 11 aud 12, block 11, Upper Taieri. — Resolved that if applicant applies in 1904,. when lea.se of sections expires, his application will then receive iconsideiation.'
An application was made by Frank Thomson for a -three years' license over Runs 337 and 337 a, Wanaka. — Consideration deferred. Tho Waikouaiti County Council forwarded statement of proposed expenditure of " thirds and " fourths for . period October 31, 1898, to January 29, 1590. — Proposed^ expenditure proved.An application was received from F. Stephens for a grazing right over the tailings- reserve situate between sections 46, 47, block I, Naselw district, and sections 26, 27, and 23, block Til, Maniototo district. — Referred to Ranger Atkinson for report.
Ranger Mackenzie forwarded an application from H. Birley to be allowed to cut timber required for a county bridge from Earnsluw bush. — Referred to Commissionci of Crown Lends.
A letter was received from Mr J. Ewing, on behalf <t)f Henry Armitage, in regard to tho application made by him for a license to occupy th* mining reserve adjoining section 7. block 111, Blackstone district. — Tho board did not scents way to reopen this question in the meantime.
Several residents at Nenthorn wrote objecting to the mining reserye around Nenthorn being added -to W. Heffemarr'a Run 1211.—Received.
Thomas 'Kaenan wrote in regard to the \ahbiting over the 250 acres recently upon Run 226, and now taken up under special mining claim. — Referred to the Stock department for information.
d'ohn Williamson was allowed 14: days for the removal of his 6tock and crop from Run 205b, Rock and Pillar, in the event of his not again obtaining -a lease. The application of William Eskdale to transfer his temporary license over 4800 .acres, part •of Rankleburn- Hundred, to Thomas Chapman wa s granted. It was decided to allow John Sheppard 14 days to remove stock from pections 5 and 6, -block- VI, Lauder district, in tho event of his Xiot again -obtaining tho lease."
