DEATH OF DR CUNNINGHAME.
Dr. John Cunninghame, the health officer ■ «b Port Chalmers, passed to his rest shortly after 8 a.m. on Tuesday. The deceased gentleman had been in delicate health for some time past, and on his return from the naval camp at Otago Heads on Good Friday was so unwell that he had to take to his bed, from * which he nevei rose again. Dr. Cunninghame, •who took a keen interest in the volunteer movement, held" the rank of surgeon-capiaia in the Port Chalmers Naval Artillery, was also a prominent member of the Masonic fra ternity, and held the rank o£ P.D.G.S.W., had twice been Master of the Port Chalmers Marine Lodge, No. 942, E.C., was first Principal Z. of the Masonic Chapter, and W.M.M.M., Zealandia Marine Lodge ; a member of the Preceptory of Otago, and a past officer of the Sphinx Chapter R.C. Dr. Cunninghame was the spn of the late Mr. _J. Cunninghame, of Milton, and was married to a daughter -of the late Rev. W. Johnstone, Presbyterian minister of Port Chalmers, by ■whom he leaves an infant son. He was a keen enthusiast in his profession, a warm hearted, kindly natured man, ever ready to aid those who needed it, and his loss will be keenly felt in Port Chalmers.
