THE PLAGUE.
ST. PETERSBURG, October 31.
Thirty male and ten female doctors have been despatched by the Russian Government to Samarkand for the purpose of localising the plague.
WARSAW, November 1. A woman has died here from the plague.
VIENNA, November 2.
The Emperor has decorated Nurse Hochegger, who is recovering from the plague, after nursing Dr Koch and othe* victiaw.
Dunedin experienced a. tropical downpour shortly after mid-day on Sunday. Some of the side channels of the streets were unable to take away the water, and there were lakes of water in several places reaching nearly to tin centre of the street, one of the deepest beintf at' the junction of St. Andrew and Cumber« land streets. So far as could be ascertained no damage was done in the city*
