TURNED UP SAFELY.

INVERCARGILL, October 19. The two men supposed to have been lost with the cutter Star, -which was found on the beach near Fortrose, are safe. It appears " the craft was off Port Adventure, Stewart Island, when one of the men was knocked overboard and the other had to go to the rescue in a dingey. By the time the man was picked up the cutter had drifted off the land before a heavy wind, and the boat was too small to venture after her. Having put his mate ashore the other tried to reach Port Adventure to get help to go after the cutter, but he became exhausted, and was picked up by s.s. Despatch, which was running along the coast.
