CALEDONIAN BOWLING CLUB.

The annual meeting of the Caledonian Bowling Club was held in the Shamrock Hotel on Friday. Mr William Dawson (president) occupied the chair, and there was a good attendance.

The annual report was to the effect that the past year had been such a financial success that the" incoming committee would be able to start with a credit balance. The balance would have been considerably larger were it not that the committee had to provide £7 8s 9d unpaid amounts from last audits, minus a balance in hand of £2 17s. The committee regretted the death of tho late Mr John Capstick and Mr John Davidson. Mr R. M'Robie was elected secretary at the last annual meeting, but had tendered his resignation, and MrW. A. Smith was appointed pro tern, to the position. The report concluded as follows: — The prizes presented by the club and private members for competition have this season been numerous, and m most instances very valuable from an intrinsic point; but the greater value is in the honour of victory. The following is a list of prizes and winners:— President's prize (presented by Mr W. Dawson), Mr J. Evans; Vice-presidents' prize (presented by Messrs J. "VVecldcrspoon and P. Wilson), Messrs Powley and Wilson; Mr Gieeiislade's prize, Mr C. E. Keast; Committee's prize, J. Cowie; Non-prizetakers prize (presented by Mr A. Thomson), R. Torrance; Young Players' prize (presented by Mr J. Blaney), B. Hungerford; Mr J. Hancock's prize (handicap), Or. Wedderspoon • Champion Bowls, C. E. Keast ; Doublehanded Club prize, W. A. Smith and C. E. Keast (skip); Mr W. A. Smith's prize, J. Evans ; Rink Match (gold medals), Hood, Hanson, A. Evans, and J. Dodds (skip). At a subsequent stage of the proceedings, the prizes were duly distributed by the chairman to the prize-winners. Tho Chairman delivered a short address, in which he congratulated the club on the progress which had been made during the year. Ho feelingly alluded to the death of Mr J. C. Capstick .and Mr John Davidson, by whose sad romoval tho club had lost old and highly respected members. The club were to bo congratulated on possessing an energetic committee, and also in possessing a treasurer such as Mr J. Roberts, whose valued service had proved of much assistance to the club.

On tho motion of Mr Greensla.de, seconded by Mr Evans, the report was adopted.

OFFICE-BEARERS.

On the motion of Mr Wedderspoon, seconded by Mr Gore, Mr Dawson was unanimously re-elected president. Messrs J. Wedderspoon and P. Wilson were elected ■\ ice-presidonts ; W. A. Smith, secretary ; J. Roberts, treasurer ; T. R. Dodds and C. E. Thompson, auditors ; G. Walker, J. A. Kirby, F. Foster, H. Yatcs, and J. D. Yates, General Committee ; li. Hogg, IVlatcli Committee.

The question of introducing club matches on Wednesday afternoons was discussed, and it was decided that those members who could get. away should hand in their names to tho secretary. On the motion of Mr J. D. Yates, seconded by Mr G-. Capstick, it was resolved that tho Championship Bowls be done away with, and that the trophies kindly presented by the Messrs Coughlan Bros, toko the place of the champion bowls, the trophy to become the property of any member who wins it twico ia succession, or on three different occasions. The meeting terminated, and those present subsequently sat down to a generous supper. Musical items were rendered, and a very pleasant evening was ssQni,
