PORTOBELLO ROAD BOARD.
The ordinary meeting of the Portobello Road Board was attended by Messrs Dickson (chairman), Macandrew, Rayubird, Milne, Edwards, Geaiy. North, Seaton, and Hinkley. The inspector's repoit was adopted with some alterations. It was decided to call for tenders for a I2iti pipo culvert on the road leading fiorn the Camp to I3ioad Bay. The question of a culviiit on the beach road, at Mr Hmldey's, was left with Ihe members for tho sub-division and the inspector, with power to act. The tender of D. Nyhon was accepted for the sea wall and the widening of the beach road. Mr T. Allen's request for repairs to the road Lo his property was referred to the inspector, who was also instructed to attend as soon, as convenient to Mr Granger's request for the removal of a slip on the road to his property. The members of the sub-division were reqi'ested to vi?it the road, to block IV, which Mr Clark complained of as bping dangerous, and report to next meeting. While thanking the Hon. Mr Lamach for his intimation that the conptablo at Anderson's Bay would m future be supplied with a horse, and have charge of tho whole Peninsula, it was decided to inform him that the arrangement would not meet tiie wants of the district unless the constable resided in a central position. The Clerk reported having, as instructed, appi'oaclioj the Masonic trustees to ascertain if they would assist in erecting a shade for horses Tho trustees had declined under their present financial circumstance? It was resolved that a late of 2<l in the pound on all rateable propel ty in the board's district, payable in one sum on August 1, !>•} struck. Mr Porterfield was appointed collector.
