NATVE LAND LEGISLATION. "Wellington, Angust 1.

The Premier to-day received a deputation of Natives, and discussed the provisions of the Native Lands Bill. Some of the speakers suggested that the bill be amended so as nob to apply to those Avho objected to it. TUo Premier said this was already provided for. He pointed out that no suggestions had been received from tlio&c who opposed the bill. They had apparently simply taken up a negative position. He went at, length into the amendments proposed, and explained the Government's view;>. He strongly deprecated the statement that, the bill ■would overthrow the Treaty of Waitangi. Whoever said that either did not know what he was talking about or spoke falsely.
