TAIERI RACES. Monday, Aphil 11.

The Autumn meeting of the Taieri Amateur Turf Club was held in beautifully flue weather, and there was a laitly good attendance. In the Trial Stakes, R. Hsstie, as representing the owner of Wimbledon, lodged a protest against tbe stakes being awarded to Jupiter on the ground of foul riding oj the part of Hendry. The stewards held a meeting to consider the matter, when Hendriek, v.'ho rode Wimbledon, staled that his horse and Jupiter were racing together ah a qustifcer of a mile. Hendry subsequently bib Wimbledon over t'ue head and bored him o'\t. Heudry admitted hitting Wimbledon, but stated that ho did so accidentally. A*; the top of the straight Wimbledon ran out, and Jupiter followed, and he had all he could do to keep the latter on the course. He ueed his whip on Jupite? to keep him id, and as tho two horses *?ero very close together he accidentally hit Wiojbttdr-n. M'Eldowney, the rider of Miss O'K'ine, also give evidence, curing tho course of which ha said he though*, that what Hendry had dona was accidental.
