ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET.

Chiustchurcu, Aptil 13.

Medium entries in most classes of btock at the Aldington market. The attendance was good. Business, however, was anything but brtak. The entries for the day comprised 15.534 kheep and lambs, 298 cattle, and 354 pigs.

Fat Cattle.— The 147 head yarded contained 1 nothing of extra prime quality, anil was mors i than sufficient for requirements. Although a ] litllo improvement wag noticeable in the tone of the sale, prices showed no improvement. Best j steers brought £6 10s to £7 10j ; otheis, down to £i ; good heifers, £i 10s to £6 7s 6d ; others ; down to £3 ; cows, from £2 103 to £5 10s. Prices ] per 1001b— prime beef, 15s to 16a 6d ; medium to good, 12s to 14s; cows and in fciior sorts, down" to 7s.

Fat Sheep — About 5060 on offer, including very fair lines of freezers, for which there was a good demand. Good young ewes quite held their own, and a. few aged sorts were taken for preserving. Prices realised were : Best crossbred wethers, 12s' 6d to 14s Id ; not so gcod, 9s 4d to lls 6d ; mixed wethers and maiden, ewes, lls to 12s 9d ; maiden ewes, 9j to 12s 6d ; good young ewes, 63 to 9s 6d j aged sorts. 3s 6d to 5s 'Fat Lambs. — A heavy entry included a fair proportion of freezing' quality. Better classes sold well in spite of the fact that the factories are now almost blocked owing to tho scarcity of freights. One buyer (for export) secured over 20G0 Good lambs ruled at 7» to <K6d ; an extra prime lot, 10s 4d ; butchers' sorts, 4s Gd to 8s 6d ; backward down to 2* id.

Fat Pigs.— The market was well supplied, and matters remained about the tame as last week, baconars averaging 4d per lb and porkers a shade more. Baconera ran from 35s to 553, and up to 61s 6d for an extra prime line ; porkers, 18a to 32s 6d ; stores, 32s to 25s ; and suckers and weaners from 3j 6d to 9d 6d.
