ROAD BOARDS.

The regular monthly meeting of the Peninsula Road Board, held on Saturday, was attended by Messrs Stuart (chairman), Fairbairn, M'Curdy, Rowe, and Murray.

The 'Anderson's Bay members reported that the culvert near Mr Ponsonby's required pipes. It was resolved to instruct the surfaceman to attend to the work. Mr Begg submitted a plan of roads in Bay field estate. The matter wa3 left in the hands of the chairman to attend to according to agreement. Mr Rutherford was present to'urge that a road should be made to his property at Sandymount. It was decided that the matter should stand over till next meeting. The following tenders were accepted for metal : — Anderson's Bay : Crashed metal, John Jones ; blue stove spalls, Alex. Mdcdonald; rattan rock, John A. Reekie. Highcliff : Blaeatone, John Weotf old. Sandymount: Bluestone, Andrew Brown. Carting for Anderson's Bay, John Henderson ; cartiDg for Highcliff and Sandymount, Andrew Brown. The price for breaking 2-^in metal was fixed at Is lOd per yard for bluestone, and Is 6d per yard for rotten rock. Accounts were roasaed for payment for £48 6s 3d.

The adjourned meeting of the Tomahawk Road Board was held at the board's office, Tomahawk, and was attended by Messrs Stewart (chairman), Mathieson, Henderson, and Miller. Mrs Brooks wrote asking to have the road formed leading to her property. Resolved that 60 loads of rotten rock be procured, Mrs Brooks contributing £1 towards the cosfe. It was reolved to lengthen the culvert on the main road Bft with blue gum. Mr D. Miller was appointed surfaceman to the board. It was resolved to invite tenders for bluestone spalls for metal. Accounts wore passed for I payment to the amount of £10 13j +d.

The adjourned meeting of the Portobello Eoad Board, held on Saturday, was attended by Messrs Dickson (chairman), Seafcon, Hinkly, Edwards, North, Geary, And Kellas. The Inspector reported that the Anderson's Bay bridge required some repairs. It was resolved, as thi3 part of the road is not under the control ot the board, that the clerk take the necessary steps to have it placed under the control of the Portobello Road Board, it being the main road to Dunedia from that district. The deputation appointed to inspect the roi.d from Sheppard's creamery to Mr J. Geary's gate reported that the petitioners were justified in their request to have the road widened. It was resolved that tenders be called for the came *nd tor metalling part of the road known as Geary's from the Inlefc to Wickliffie Bay. Mr Bwetfc wrote complaining of a nuisance existing in Beaconsfis'Sd street, SeaSoun, caused by a sewer pipe discharging offensive matter. The inspector was instructed to 'sea that the nuisance was abated by the person responsible. Mr D. Nyhon wrote asking permission to erect a fence 3ft on the street line in Oban to protect a live fence he intends to plant. The clerk to inform Mr Nyhon that as the board baa not taken over any street lines in that township they have no coatrql over the same. The Toll Collector reported that £18 ISs 2d had been collected for the month of March. It wss resolved to advise the Benevolent Trustees to continue the present relief as per list forwarded till otherwise advised. Accounts to the amount of £56 2s Id were passed for payment.
