OTAKIA.

March IS.— At a meeting of the Otakia Drainage Board, held last Monday, the following tenders were accepted :— Slabbing drain at Momona, £10 7s 6d (labour only), P. Walsh ; reconstructing old drain, 3s )>'d per chain, W. Bryant. A circular from the Valuer-general, Wellington, was read respecting the valuation rolls for rating purposes. The clerk was instructed to leply. The members present were unanimously of opinion that it would be advisable to adopt rating on the unimproved value, as they considered it the most equitable way of rating, but as all the members were not present further consideration was loft over till next meeting.
