Some 600 school children from Wairarapa h?.J an unplessan'. experieuee last; night. They got as far as Kaitoke en the return journey, aad there the engine of the inward Napier train jumped the points and got astride of tha main line. It took all night to remove it, and the children and their trieods had to sleep ia ilse railway carriages, and did not get home till S o'clock this morning. The railway authorities sei.t up supplies of food. The Napier passengers were brought ii_to town last night by an engine and carriages taken from the excursion train. The volunteer force is to be increased and the regulations altered in the direction of increasing thrf number of parades. The total amount to be spent by the Government in improving the defecc :-a oi the colony is £25,0C0.
