f Alpine. — The mine manager reports : " The No. 10 main level has been extended south for a further distance of 7f b, making the total extension 325 ft. The reef has gradually widened out to 6ft in thickness, aad the quality of the stone also sliovvi a slight improvement. In the lower stjpes above this level the veef has also increased iv size, and is now Bft in width. level the uprise has been extended a further distancs of 6't. The reef still continues about the same size—sft in width —and a tiial crushing-of about 30 tons of the stone from here will be made to-morrow. The No. 4 level has been driven by the contractors for a further distance of ISft, making the total extension 76ft. The track of the reef has narrowed down to 3in width, but the driving is still very easy. During the week 164 tons of stone have been sent to the battery. The result from the scraping of the top plates is 200oz amalgam from 264 tons of stone treated." |
