SCHOOL VACATIONS.

PORTOBELLO SCHOOL.

The Porbobello School broke up oa Thursday, 23rd inst. The school committee and parents were well represented on the occasion. Songs were sung by the children, and addresses delivered by Rev. A. Greig, M.A., the chairman of the school committee (Major M'Cartney), Mr North, and the head master.

The prizes were distributed by the Chairman ; after which the usual votes of thanks were j accorded to the ladies who had judged the sewing, and to the gentlemen who judged the j writing. The children were then dismissed for j a six weeks' holiday. The following ia the prize-list : — |
