A big •yndicate to develop the Tasmacitn timber industry is being formed in London. On the Victorian railways books containing 500 coupon?, each representing a mile, are being issued at a price which will enable journeys aggregating 500 miles to be made in the course of a year at excursion rates. The price of a 500-mile first clasi ticket will be £4, and a second class ticket £2 15j. The holder of a coupon book, before making a journey, will have to present coupons representing the mileage* and will receive an ordinary single ticket 'ia exchange. Return tickets will not be available. Coupons are not to be transferable. A breach of the departmental regulations in this regard will involve the forfeiture of the whole book.
