DUNEDIN HORSE SALEYARDS. Weekly Report.
Messrs Wkight, Stephenson, and Co. .report as follows :—
For Saturday's s»le there was a good muster ot horses, both draught and light harness, made up of consignments from Tinwald, Weston, Hyde, the Taifeii, aad surrounding districts. There was a good attendance of buyers, and bidding was brisk for horses of the best quality/ A considerable ainouut of business would have resulted among the draughts if the vendors h«d been prepared -to accept market value for tbe Jots, but in most cases the reserves placed on the hoi sea were tco high. Among.the light-harness class a larga number of horses .found new owneis at good prifjp, those drawing most attention being animals suitable 'for *priugcaifc, 'bus, and tram work. Heavy young draught, mares aud geldings and good, ttiong light-harness hoises for train and epring-cxrt work-are uiuch wanted, and we can recommend tbe Duaedin market as the host in the colony at present for these descriptions. Our horse sile next week will he lield^ou FrUsv, on account of Saturday being Christinas Day. ~ we •quote :— Fire t-claps young draught mares aud geldifcgs. £35 -to £40 ; good , do, . £28 to £33 ; medium draught mares' and geldings, ££0 to £25 ; -•aged d0.,- £l2 to £18; first-class -hack awi-light-hamess horses; :£lB-to £25.; good do, £12 to £17 : medium do, £7 to £10 ; a^d and -juferior, £2 to £5. t
