THE LUCKNOW TROUBLE. A DYNAMITE OUTRAGE.
THE STRIKERS REPUDIATE
AJSY COMPLICITY. Sydney, September 23. A dynamite bomb was exploded near the changiDg room at the Lucknow mine, but fortunately no one was injured. The manager of the mine has wired that after a secret meeting of miners a bomb was thrown at a building where 50 men lodged, and that a larger bomb was thrown, but the fuse went out in a puddle of water. The explosion has caused great consternation, and the strikers are aghast, believing they will be accused of the dastardly act. They emphatically deny any connection with the deed.
September 24. The Lucknow strikers disavow all knowledge of the explosion, and say it mast have been caused accidentally or otherwise by someone inside the mine fence. Tbe bomb spent its force in a stack of timber. Tbia saved the room in which the men were from being shattered, bat the explosion made a large hole in the ground, shook tbe buildings severely, and smashed some window frames^
The management point out that it is not possible that the explosion was the result of acoident, as the fuse was different from that ia use in the mine.
