Feptember 20 —We are having some nice showers at present, aud are in hopes of a real good dowDpmir before long, as the ground- is so dry after the loug spell of drought that' a shower makes little impression. Railway.— The most of the heavy traffic now goes to Kokonga, and consequently Hyde is much quieter than it used to be. I hear that the line is shortly to be opened to Kokonga for passenger traffic. 1.0. G.T. Social.— The Good Templars held their anniversary social in the schoolroom last Friday evening. There was a good gathering. The proceeds of the entertainment go to the school funds to assist in fencing the glebe. Bro. 3Toote, C.T., occupied the chair. A feature of the evening was a magic lantern worked by Mr Finlay, of Kokonga. Songa were contributed by ISlessrs Bur'nard, Anderson, and Thomson, Mrs Arthur, Misses Burnard aud Arthur, and Masters A. Arthur and J. Burnard. A duet, "Money matters," was given by Sirs Arthur and Mr Anderson. Recitations were given by Messrs Burnard and Thompson, Miss Florrie Burnard, Miss Eamsay. and Muster Burnard} and speeches by Messrs Ramsay and Duff. The programme closed •with, a dialogue, the parts being taken by Misses Burnard and ltamsay and Mr Foote, and before dispersing the audience sang the National An.
