Notes from Auckland. (From Our Own Correspondent.)
Auckland, July 7. At a nieating of directors of the Barrier Gold and Silver Estates Company, held this morning, ■ an option over the property was granted to the Melville Corporation for eight months. During this time, the option provide-, the corporation will spend at least £100 per month iv opening put and developiug the property. A working capital of £20,000 is to be provided, and the local shareholders are to leceive 25 per cent, of their shares ' in any new company, that is formed. July 8. Tararu Creek.— From the battery 330 tons -of ore yielded £240 worth of gold, and from the cyanide £185 worth ; making a total of £425. The Crown mine^prusued 120G tons for £33(10 value of gold. July 12. Among the passengers by the Westralia is' the Rev. Mr Campbell, who returns from London, where he initiated a company for carrying out the hy pei phosphoric process of saving sold. The machinery arrived by the Star of Victoria, ana was stored here pending Mr Campbell's arrival. He proceeds to Te Aroha to erect the machinery at once.
