THE GLENBROOK MURDERER.

THE BLACK SHEEP OF HIS FAMILY. Sydney, July 6. Butler continues very sullen. He frequently asks to have his hands released, it is believed with a view to writing a sketch of what he often refers to as his wild and reckless career. He confessed himself a Weoleyan, and expressed a desire to receive ministration by the Wealeyac chaplain. July 9. A resident at Newcastle has received a letter from a friend in Staffordshire, England, acquainted with Butler's family. The writer states that Butler's real name is John Newman. The condemned man has three brothers holding responsible positions in England. The letter states that John Newman was regarded as the black sheep of the family. At an early age he ran away from home. His relatives, who are aware of his present position, made freqjient endeavours to induce him to reform. The letter bears out a number of the particulars of the story told by Butler in San Francisco having reference to his career in the army and navy.
