May 1. — The weather still continues extremely 1 dry, and the miners all round the district are vir- • tually at a standstill, and present indications do not point to any improvement in afF.iirs. A few 1 farmers are preparing their ground for winter ; wheat, and the autumn poisoning has just been concluded. School Election.— At the annual householders' meeting the following gentlemen were elected as a committee f<u - the yeir :— Messrs R. C. Darling (chairman), J. H. Perry (secretary), Wm. Marshail, Ohns. Beck, Chf>s. Lockhart, F. G Harrex, and Klwin Jopson. The balance sheet showed a credit balance of £5 12s lOd. There are now 46 child reu on the roll, with an average attendance of 42. I Koads — Mr Wm. Price is malSing good progress with his contract of gravelling, and given fine 1 weather should be finished in about a month.
