A WELLINGTON SENSATION.
THE ALLEGED POISONING AT THE
HUTT.
(Faosi Otm Own Oobbespondbnt.) Wellington, April 28. Sensafioaal and persistent rumours have been current for some timo past regarding a supposed poisoning case near Wellington, and to-day the ' name of a deceased politician was linked in soruo mysterious manner by Dame Rumour with the case. I learu, however, on excellent; authority that there is absolutely no foundation in fact for the statements that foul play is suspected in regard to the death of this politician. It is a pity tbat tho originator of such a scandalous rumour could not be discovered and punished. On equally good authority I learn, however, that two oases of supposed poisoning are engaging the attention of the local police authorities, and to-day, as a matter of fact, two stomachs from disinterred bodies arrived in Wellington for examination by tho Government analyst. Tae police, naturally enough, will vouchsafe no information on the subject, bub from an independent source I hear that one of the stomachs was sent; from Ha.wera and the other from the Hutfc. Probably we shall hear more of the matter ia a few days.
