DUNEDIN HORSE KALEYARDS. "Weekly Report.

Messrs Wright, Stephknson, and Co. report as follows :—

There was a moderate supply of horses for this week's sale,, but the number included some tip-top draughts from the Gore and Taieri districts, and a consignment of light horses from the north. Probably owing to insufficient publicity having been given to the sale (sellers seldom notify us many days ahead that they are bringing horses to <,he market, and this, of eouise, militates against a successful .sale) the attendance of buyers was not so numerous as could have been wished for. Notwithstanding this there was a fair amount of business done, and at satisfactory prices in the case of good draughts. A very handsome six-year-old Clydesdale gelding by Clansman realised £35 10s, aud another very gcod gelding by Lord Tddesleigh made £28. The sale of light horses dragged iomewbat, but most of them changed handß at low values. There ai-a buyers iv the market for one ov two pair of first-class carriage horses, and also for upstanding hacks and gig hor-ies. We must direct special attention to our great annual sale of Clydesdale hoi'ses, which takes place on Thursday, 20th inst., at the Dunediu Horse Saleyards (see Witness for particulars). We quote : First ■ class heavy young draughts at from £30 to £35 (extra heavy a pound or two more) ; medium, £22 to £27 ; aged, £15 to £20 ; hacks and strong carriage horses, £15 to £20 ; good spring-cart sorts, £11 to £15 ; light h.icka, £7 to £10 ; inferior, £2 to £5.
