Mr James Arkle presided. After the passing of the report and balance sheet, the only burning question, and one tbat caused much dissafisfaction, was the appointment of pupil teachers being left entirely in the hands of the Education Board, committees having no toics j in the matter. This was severely commented upon by several householders, the lats appointment to the local district echool coming in for much adverse comment. " The election, if it can be called one," writes our correspondent, " was then proceeded with, but I have never yet seen a school election conducted in such a loose manner, ballot papera being given out indiscriminately to all and sundry, and I have no hesitation in stating that several votes were recorded that were legally not entitled to have been ; whiht the ballot box was carried aboub the room quite open, not; being locked until all papers were collected. Sixteen nominations were received, the voting resulting as follows : — Jame3 Kitchen 63, J. O. Gow 60. T. Muir 56, D. Phillip 55, G. Cruicki shank 53. W. Little 50, W. Robertson 49, J. !
