! TO THE EDITOR. I Sir,— Many peop c have felt and come have expressed a desire for a single word whioli aha'l . stand for the phrase, " English - speak:o^t ! people." I suggest that following a crssfcom «£ the Middle Age?, we use the word •• YeaJitad " as a collective name for the countries T^Gr**rtr language predominate!:, and " YvchiDtifna' f*r " English-speaking people." Yesinurt tro'ilrl include the British Empire, the Uuitivj Stwte*, Siberia, Orange Free State, ano in tbe nejir future the Transvaal Republic. To avoid fcbs use of the word " British," which is repudiated by Irishmen, not appreciatad by Sciktumec, ».n'l incorrectly applied about once in overy hucdt«il times it is used, I propose that tho word "Queen's" be adopted instead. A BrifcitU subject would be a Queensman, British Africa would be Queen's Africa, and so on.
Yealacd would also very fitly differentiate the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireltuid from tbe rest of Yesland. — I am, fee, April 17. SOUTHLANDKB.
