GORE.

March 2.— The latest development in regard to the railway reserve leases is that all lessees have received notice from the department that at the tsrmination of the present leases (in about 18 months' time) they will be offered at auction. This is a rather unexpected development, because the lessees thought that they would have the right of renewal. Ecclesiastical.— The Rev. C. H. Frere is at present in charge of the Holy Trinity Church here, having succeeded the late Rev. T. L. Stanley. A meeting of parishioners to meet Mr Frere was held on Monday evening, when there were many ladies but few gentlemen present. The proceedings were of a rather dismal character. The church is now £25 in debt, and united action was urged to put it on a better footing.
