CHINESE DENS IN AUCKLAND. Auckland, November 27

At the instance of the authorities of the Door of Hope, a visit was to-day paid to certain Chinese tenements in a lane off Wakefield •treat by Mr Goldie (inspector under the City Council) and Dr King (medical offi-er of health' for the city), accompanied by S'ster France)!, of. the Door of Hope. Two young girls were recently admitted into the home after having ueen found living with Chinamen in the locality in question, and Sinter Frances wished to obtain tor thorn their olothes, &0., which had been left in the houses of the Ohinese.- In one of the houses at the ' bick of some empty shops two girls weie found in the, rooms of Chinamen, ' on« being, in bed. One of the girls mnnaged to get away from tbe rescue partyi but the other was detained. ' She said she had been brought to tbe Louse the previous evening while under the influence of drink and did not know where she was till the morning. She said she had a mother living in ,Newtoo, but preferred going to the Door of Hope to retarding home. She wits 19 years old, And the other girl was about the same age. Tug girl was accordingly taken to the Door of Hope in a cab, and is now in that institution. It is intended also to get the other girl into the home if possible in order to savo her from her present life. Several girls, it is said, frequent the tumble-down and extremely filthy houses occupied by Chinamen in tbe vicinity of Wake? field street.
