WOOL AND GRAIN REPORT.
Messrs William E. Reynolds and Co , Bond street, Dunedin, report for the week ending 2nd December as follows :— Wheat remains much in the same position as when we last reported. Demand at prosent is not very active, but holders are very firm. We quote : Prime velvet, ss; Tuscan, 4s lid; red sorts, 4b 101 (sacks in, less 2J for cash). Oats also do not Bhow much alteration, though none seem to be offering just at the moment, and buyers evince a disposition to bold off somewhat. We quote : Prime milling up to 2s to 2s ljd ; sparrowbills, 2s OJd to 2s Id ; good sound feed, 2a. Chaff is in good demand at up to £2 15s, if really prime : ordinary and inferior is very hard to sellat £2 2s 6dto £2 10s, according to quality. Potatoes are very scarce indeed, and worth up to'£s los ; medium quality, £415ste£5. Wool.— Since our last the s.i'ps have opened in London, and the latest cable advices denote a firmer market than has ruled for some months, but this will hardly affect prices here, we think, to any appreciable extent, for the buyers were aware of the likelihood of- an advance before the Cbrfstehuroli sale opened." It appears that, genetally speaking, piices will be nearly up to those ruling last year, aud In cases where the wool is cleaner and lighter, quite up to last year's prices. Consignments are already coming to hand sparingly, and quality is well up to the average, though it is early to speak yet.
