July 13.— Another of the old settlers has passed aw*y in the person of Mr Edward Johnion. M A. Deceased came to the colony in the ship Aghar with his two brothers, but they not caring for the country returned. Mr Johnson at first bought property, and lived at Kurißush fora considerable time, then sold out and came to East Taieri, where he engaged in pastoral pursuits. Ilavingsusiainsd serious losses, ne came to Moa Flat in the capacity of schoolmaster, for which profession he was well adapted. Mr Johnson graduated at Trinity College, Dublin, and very few were hi; equal in Latin and Greek at thafperiod.
