BALD HILL FLAT.
July 6.— A movement is on foot throughout the Dunstan district to get a daily mail from Lawronce t) Clyde. This would no doubt ba overeat benefit to this district both as regards travelling convenience and mails. At the present time daily papers are very littU good to the general population, as they only arrive thrice weekly, so that it is better to wait for the weekly paper and get all the week's news in one reading. MINING. Very stormy weather has been experienced here during the past week, and aluicers are jubilant, as a very heavy coat of snow covets the ranges, the prospect of plenty of water for next sluicing season thus being a very fair one. Some very fair crushings have been obtained on I the range recently, but being by private individuals, who are somewhat reticent as to the ' am iunt of their returns, I am uot able to record ! the results. !
Several offers have been made to the owners of the principal quartz mines litre with a view to placing the mints on the Home market, but so far I don't think any of the owners have closed. Most of the sluicers are idle, and some have gone to the river beach-combing.
