July 6.— The Central O\ago Agricultural and Pastoral Association's annual meeting takes place at Ophir on Wednesday next, the Bth in->t., when the balance sheet for the year ended 30th ult. will be submitted. The receipts from all sources for the year amounted to £208 Is tid. This, with a balance of £52 2s 3d from the previous year, makei a total of £2(50 3j 9d. The sum of £108 was given in prize n>oney. The assets now consist of a credit balance of £15 7s 5d at the bank; hurdles, poultry pens, <tc, purchased during the year, j£;4fts; and unpaid subscriptions, estimated to realise £2;— total2 ;— total assets, £-12 7s od. Considering the wet day experienced for last year's show the association is to be congratulated on their management in being able to show such a surplus. The beneficial rejults of the association arc plainly visible in the district, and the farmers should continue to render it every assistance. Tin greatest praise is due to both Mr J. L. Flint (the hon secretary) and Mr W. B. Hawsm (rhe hon. treasurer) for the keen intereit they take in the association's welfare. Sporting.— Forty nominations were received on Saturday night for the New Year's Trot and 20 for the All-aged Stakes by the Viucsnt Jockey Club.
