Mhlbouene, June 20. On behalf of New South Wales, South Australia, Tasmania, and Victoria, Mr Turner has expressed to the Premier of Queensland a most earnest desire that that colony ehould advert to the .arrangements agreed to at the Hobait Conference in regard to the election of federal delegates by the direct vote of the people instead of by Parliament. He points out that any variation from that method will weaken the prestige of the convention and imperil Federation.

BRISBANE, June 30.

Mr Nelson, the Premier, in moving the second reading of the Federation Bill said ho was certain that the colony would be better represented by the method proposed than by a general election with the colony as one electorate.
