DUNEDIN HORSE SALEYARDS. Weekly Report.

Messrs Wright, Stephenson, and Co. report as follows :—

At Saturday's sale there were very few buyers present and only a. small number of horses. The draught horses forward were for the most part aged and inferior sorts, and for these the demand was limited. Good, sound young draughts are in great demand and very scarce. Wo strongly recommend consignments of this class of horses, which we are confident would sell at-prices very satisfactory to vendors. Horees suitable for spring vans, expresses, Ac. are also scarce. Most or the horses of this description offered to-day were light; and inferior, and there was very little demand for them, the inquiry being confined chiefly to useful youug animal.'. Hacks and harness horses, with one or two exceptions, were poorly represented. Nearly all horses of this class offered were "weeds," and for these there was no demand. Strong, useful, upstanding harness horses are wanted, and had any of these been forthcoming they would have brought fair values. We quote : Heavy draughts, four to six years, £22 to £27 ; do eight to ten years, £15 to £20; light and snnll do, £8 to £12; aged and inferior do, £4 to £7; upstanding spring-cart" horseß, young and sound, £12 to £16 ; well-bred upstanding hacke and harness horses, £16 to £20 ; upstanding hacks and harness horses, £10 to £14 ; aged and inferior, £2 to £5.
