One raw wintry afternoon x number o? passengers were waiting oq Dunblane r*ilw*y sbatkn phtform for the train from Perth going soubh. Ib was whispered among tbein that a lad? anil geutlernau standing a considerable distance apart from the rest were the Marquis and Marchioness of Lome.
No sooner had Jamie, the porter, heard this than he waddled off to ascertain the exact truth. . Addressing the lsdy abruptly, he asked : " Ate you the Marchtouess of Lome ? " "Yes, my good man," she kindly replied, Still uncertain, he farther asked : ' " Wa3 Prince Albert yec f aithet ? "
" Yes," she said. "Ah, dacent man!" said Jamie. " Mony a time I've seen him ga'en by here on his road to Balmoral. Bat it's cauld standing here ; gang into the waitin' room— there* a quid fire there. Draw in a chair, but diona put yer wet boots on the fender."
It was J.imie'd task to kesp the fender bright and free from tust spots.
