OatB : Prime milling, up to &; bright short feed, Is BJd to Is 9JJ; ordinary feed, Is 7Jd to Is Bd. Barley : Feed sorts are quoted 2a 2d to 2s 4d : malting, f ora 3s 6d to 4s. Rye corn, 2s 3d to 2s 9d. Flour : We quote £9 10i. Oatmeal in 25's, £11. Pearl barley, £12 10s. Bran, £3 10s. Pollard, £4 10s. Nelson hops:' New season's on the market, and are quoted at 9id to lOd. Potatoes: Derwents (very little inquiry),* 57s to 60<s. Chaff; Good quality, well-cut oaten sheaf, £2 12s 6d to £2 15a ; extra prime, £2 17s 6A. Pressed straw, 32s 6d, Clover hay, £3. We receive lvibbitskius, hides, sheepskins, and tallow, and return highest matket values. Hides wanted, at 2*d to 3d per lb for good quality. We hold weekly sales. This branch of our business, wo ore pleased to say, is increasing every week. Cornsacks, seedsacks, woolpicks, aud seaming twine at market rates. Crown shoep dip, in sgal drums, 53 6d per gallon ; in larger quantities, 5s per gallon. Rabbitskins.— We have to report having held our sale on Monday ; prices were a shade lower than last week. We quota : Summers, s}d to (id ; autumns, 5Jd to lOd ; prime winters, lOJd to J2Jd; blacks, lOrt to 15d. We would strongly (irge consignors to be more careful in drying their jjkinß and cleaning the fat off. They will find it -very much to their advantage to do so. Sheepskins —We have to report having h«ld our *ale on Tuesday, when we- submitted a very good catalogue The market this week, on the whole, was very firm, all the eclogues being small. No doubt the floods in tho soulh had something to do with the fewness of skins coming forward. Tho following prices were realised at last week's sale : Young cocks. 3s 9d per pair ; heus and old cocks, 2s 6d to 2s 8a por pair ; ducks, none ; geef e, none ; hen turkeys, 6}d per lb ; oock turkeys, BJd per lb. Pigs, 1201b to 1601b, 3d perlb. Fruit. —Apples : Inferior, it 7d to 4s 8i per case ; prime, 7s 3d to 7a OM. Sydney and Island or-»uge», 5$ to 5* fld. Busine33 lust week was capital, e&pecidlly >n our drapery department, which, notwithßtauding the many cheap sales now on, bliows a marked iinpiovementon the corresponding period for la^t year. In furniture, too, we were busier thin wo nave ever besn, doubtless owing to the very low prices wo a-e quotin? to try and get out of the unprofitable part of our business ; but still the fact remainß that, whatever the cause, there is still plenty of money about, notwithstanding the many croakers to the contrary.
