, . Chmstcuurch, July 8. There were. fair entries in most of the classes at the Addington "market to-day.. Business was fairly brisk in most linos, the sale of fatshiep being au exceptionally good one. • Ii l atOattle.-rA medium yarding of mixedquality. Prime steer* met with good competition, aud "brought up to 20s per 1001b ; inferior aud cow beef, )4s to 16s ; steers, £1 10s to £353; heifers, £5 to £8 ; caws, £2 10s to £7 7s 6J. Fat Sheep.— The yarding was somewhat smaller than of late, but there wap a decided improvement in the quality. The market for all better classes was extremely brisk. Butchers and export buyers wero iv keen competition, and for all best sorts a further ri<e of quits Is per head took place. Prime heavyweight wethers, 18s to 20s 3d ; prime freezing wethers, 15s to 18s ; do mixed «exes, 15s to 17s 6d ; do maiden ewes, 14s to 17s ; lighter -wethers, 14s to 16s ; good butcher*' ewes, 12s 6d to 15s ; fair do, 10s to 12s ; inferior, 8s to 9s ; merino wethers, 8s to 12s sd ; ewes, 63 9d to 83. Fat Lambs.— Very good competition for the , small entry, which was cleared at from 9s 6d to 13s.
Pigs.— The supply was somewhat small, and the quality all round scarcely so good as usual. The few really prime lines of baconers and porkers in brought up to 3Jd per lb, others varying from 4d to 3J<l. A new breed of Tamworth pigs jnade their appearance ia the market, and a couple of tine Bpecinwns brought 63<j each, halfbreds bringing B0i; baconers, 305 . t0 493 ; porkers-. 16s to 25s ; good stores, 8s to 15s ; smaller sorts, 4s to 63.
