LAND BOARD.

The ordinary meeting of the Lnnd Board was held on Wednesday, when there wore present— Messrs W. Dallas (in the chair), H. Clark, and A. M'Kerrow.

Lower Wanaka.— The Warden reported upon an application by Thomas J. Pearce to purchase section 47, block I, Lower Wao&ka district.— lt wu3 resolved that he be allowed to acquire for cash at 10s per acre capital value, a reserve of two chains to be made along the river side. Catlins.— An application by E. Jones for a reaewal of his license to occupy Quarry reserve, section 40, block I, Catlins district, was granted on tire former terms.

Tiger Hill.— Ranger Atkinson reported upon sections 12 and 14, block IV, Tiger Hill district, at present held under temporary license by Thomas Anderson.— lt was resolved that the section in que-tion ba reconimonded for notification at a capital value of 15* per acre, subject to the approval of the G ivernor (value for improvements £101 Ms 6 i).

Naseby.— \f. F. Inder, on bohalf of Thomas Stevens, applied for a reduction of rent upou sections 27 and 39, blook I, Naseby district, held under temporary license.— The application was decliued.. T. J. Francis applied to be allowed to acquire portion of land between the roads at Eden Hill fronting section 15, block VII, Naseby district.— Referred to the district surveyor to report. Advances to Settlers— The board was requested to sanction the following mortgages under the Advances to Settlers Act : — John Byers, section 36, block IX, Glenomaru ; David Wright, section 50", block 111, same district. — Approved. Tuapeka West.— The application of F. Stephens and A. Dalziell for the right of grazing over sections 23, 24, 26, 27, and 29, block IV, Tuapeka West district, was referred to the commissioner to arrange. DoNBACK.— Mr T. Cha'mer, on bebalf of James Kennedy, lessee of gpcions 8 and 22, block V, and Rtctions 1 and 2, block VIII, und sections I, 2, and 3, block IX, Dunback district, applied for compensation lor damage done to his holding by mining operations.— Referred to the warden for a report. Miscellaneous Applications.— The following applications were approved :— For rural land ou lease iv perpetuity under the Land for Settlement Act : T. 1). Waid, section 69, block Vi 11, Moeraki district(Makareao); James 111 die, section 70, block VIII, same district. For. rural land on the occupation with right to purchase system : William E. Mitchell, section 20, block VII, Tuaptka We*t. To complete purchase of deferred-payment land : J. B. Ewarl, section 6, block VI, Mount Hyde district; John Robertson, section !), block IX, Wait.'ihuna district ; D. Robertson, section 23, block X, Waitahuna dist-ict ; Daniel Keenan, section 11, block XI, Waitahuna district ; Ross Crozier, section 19, blook V, I'able Hill. The application of the Fanners' Agency Company, on behalf of W. R. Neville, for 70 acred on Run 220e, Tiger Hill district, was declined. An application by the same parties to be allowed to put improvements upon land held under temporary license (linn 220e and 5;20f, Tiger Hill district) was similarly dealt with. Reductions of Rent.— The following applicatiooß for reductions of rent wer* declined, the board having no pow<-r to comply with the requests : -James Reid, sections 8, 9, 17, 1*, and 19, block I, Upper Wakatipu district ; Robert Elliot, section 21, block I, same district ; Mark Harris, section 20, same block ; and James Wilson, section 22, 23, and' 24, same block. Rock axd Pillui.— The application by T. Taylor to transfer llun 20) c, Rock and Pillar district, to P. M'Atamney was inferred to the ranger to report.— -The Receiver of Land Revenue reported that J. Kinney, the lessee of perpetual lease sections 1 and 2, block XI, Rock and Pillar district, had now paid arrears of rent.— The, resolution of the board forfeiting the lease was resciuded.

Moeraki.— The application of William Muvcott or v grazing license over sectipu 11, block 111, Moeraki district, was referred to the commissioner of Crown' lands to arrange;
