At the six-furlonga post it was difficult to sepnrate Dalmeny, Response, and Patroness, whose immediate atteudanta were The Triev, Valiant, Albicore, The Captain, and Form. Dalmeny was done with at the beginning of the bend, and, as they rattled past the three-furlongs pott, Response was in command, with The Trier at his girths, and The Captain, Albicore, Patroness, and Loch Leigh in good positions In their wake, with Form at the head of the others, and the beaten Valiant next, followed by tha much-troubled Acmena, who, though under punishment, was more than holding her own. A little further on Patroness, The Trier, aud Loch Leigh retired, and as tbey made the home turn Response was just in front of The Captain, Form, and Acmena, who were followed by a beaton lot, comprising The Trier, Royal Rose, Kallntina, Newcastle, Laura, Valiant, Scotch Lassie, and Albicore. Form and The Captain came out in pursuit of the leader at the distance, and a splendid race took place all the way home among the three. Foi'm was the first to crack, and when half a dozen len'ftths from home Respoußfi still held a slight advantage, but The Captain was catching her at every stride, and, just getiiug up in time, won a magnificent race by half a wck. Form was scarcely a lenpth off third, closely folio vred by Acmena, Newcastle, The, Trier, Leonidas, Royal _ Rose, Kalfatina, Valiant, Laura, Scotch Lassie, and Albicore, with Waihine and Dalmeny acting as whippsrs-in. Time, 2min 40joc.
