Reefton, June 6. Is to Is 34; Alpine, 18s 6d to J9s Od; United Italy, 6d to 9a ; Welcome, 2a 3d to 2s 6d. Battery Returns.— Big River, 4600z amalgam from 90 tons ore (clean up). Big River —The mine manager reports for the week:— "The diive in No. b level has been extended 10ft for this week, with the country very promising for ihe coining in of stone at any time. By ibe end of nest week we will be in the required .distance for the line of reef. The winz*s in Kos has been sunk a further depth of sfr, with the ground underlying very flat, but we are still keeping the stona going down. The sfcopes between Nos 3 and 4 levels continue much the same as last reported. A quantity of stone i 3 to be seen of fair quality." United Alpine. — The mine manager leports:— ' The east; drive at No 9 level has been exteuded a further distance of 16ft 9ia ; total distance, 224 ft. On Thursday the reef was cut in Hid above level It han every appeir&nco of being a large body of kindly-looking stone, but we have not cut into it yet, apd it will be a • few days before I will know anything of its size and quality. The drive west of the shaft has been extended 3ft for the week ; total distance 64ft. The country continues very hard sandstone. In No. 4 level the drive has baen extended a furfchei dit>tirjce of 9ft. Owing to the reef being rather iircgul »r and ill-defined, I have had to cross-cut it in two poiuts itt the main drive to find its trend. The No. 1 level has been repaired a further distance of 10t ; total distance 2%ft. I have commenced the survey of the aerial tramway from No. 4 level to the battery paddock. 1 will have the work of survey and plans prepared for erection by the end of the month."
