ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL.
The match between the first elevens of the Queen's Park and Green Island clubs was played at Burnsido and witnessed by about 300 spectators. The game was fast and the play exciting throughout. Good form was shown by both teams, but the visitors outmatched their opponents at every point of the game, with the result that at the call of time, tho wore stood: Queen's Park 7 goals,
Green Island i goal. The Park teun is fast coming to . the ficont^-Jand H*ynes , caH be complimented en the manner in whioh he is bringing his men on. M 'Donald at centre forward well deserved the 3 goals he scored, Wilson had 2 goals to his "credit, and J. Haynes and Kirkvcod 1- each. Laing (osntre half) played with great judgment throughout. The Spraggou brothers, Campbell, and - Waby played well on the defensive. Green Island, headed by their oaptain (Alex. Scott), made strong efforts to avert defeat, and one and all played a hud game. The goal they got was a beauty, Kane showing good judgment in scoring it. The referee elected by the association did not put in .an appearance, and Mr Wolston Holmes filled the vaeanoy. The matoh between the Zeal&ndia , and Northern clubs was played on the former's ground. The Northern started at once on the aggressive, aiid scored two very soft goals within the first five minutes' play. Bennett, in goal for the Zealattdia, was suffering from illness, and therefore was notuptohiß usual form. The Northern men got up some good rushes at times, and were only stopped from scori.ig by the good defensive play of the Zealandia baoks. On ohanging ends the Zealandia livened up, and took the ball up time and again to their opponents' goal, but failed to score owing to bad shooting. From a well-judged corner kiok by Dawson, Jay scored first blood for Zealandia. From this ont Zoalandia had slightly the best of the game. A few minutes before the call of time Jay scored the second goal for his side, and thug the gama ended./ in a draw. For the No ct hern, M'Lauchlan, 'Clarke, and M'Nair pla\ ed an excellent game at back, 'and Shelmer- ■ dine and Young were the pick of the forwards/ Sbelmerdiue and- Clarke scored for the Northern. .Jjichtenstein and Ca<neron played a good game at back for Z jalaudia, as aho did the Utters corner kicking being very good. Bradley, Hutton, and M'lndoe played a hard game at forward, bat want practice in shooting. Mr Pollock gave every satisfaction as referee. The Roslyn and Mo; nington met 'at W*k«tri, Roslyn winning by three gonls to nothing. The game was not very .interesting, the play of both looms having very lit6le" "comliua'iou. The Rostyn had the Moraington on the defensive most of the afternoon, bat their back play was too good to allow much scoring to be done. The Morhington forwards were very weak, seldom .threatening ' the Roslyn goal. The Roslyn were. handicapped in" not having played, for three* weeks, some of the players being a' little off colour. The following play-ad well : — -Mornington — Gregory, Sj>airow,_ Holgate, Lamb; Roslyn— Arlidge, Brown, P. M'Millan, A. Dobson, Hayward, Buutrng, and G. M'Millan. Mr Wright took Mr galmond's place as referee. - The Zealandia Second did not keep their engagement with the Northern Second. ,
