The opening of the Waverley Golf Club has been postponed until the 30th iust., ia order tha* the members of the Otago Club, who are to be present by invitation, may have time to complete the gaous for their championship. On Saturday, the 16 rh in?t., aud the following Saturday the Waverloy Club will hold practice games, and all those iatsrested are iavited to attend.. A fine specimen of a large butterfly (DAnaii plexippus) was found last week in Nelson. Tha wings were about 4£in wide when extended, and the general colour was fulvous — i.e., something of a copper colour — with black veins and margins. Mr S. H. Strong takes it to be a stranger from Japan, introduced with chrysanthemums.
